Why Fall is the Perfect Time to Start RVing on the Central Coast

When most people think about RV travel, they instantly think of summer. And while summer is a great time to get out and explore, it’s not the only time. Fall is a great time to get out and RV along the Central Coast, especially this year!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again because it’s true—if you’ve wanted to get started with RVing, 2020 is a great year to do it! The pandemic has closed down many of the regular vacation options that you would have during a “normal” year. California appears to be in no rush to reopen the theme parks and options continue to be limited on what activities you can get out to enjoy without leaving the Central Coast and heading to other states. And even when traveling out of state, you’ll be faced with limited activity options.

That leaves getting out in the great outdoors as one of the best options. And, the pandemic has also changed the way that many people feel about staying in hotels, hopping on an airplane, and even stopping in to restaurants to grab a bite to eat when away from home.

When you travel with an RV, you’re bringing your own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and living room along with you. You have all the comforts that you need and you know that you have a safe place to cook, eat, play and sleep.

Here are a few more reasons why fall is the perfect time to explore the Central Coast:

1. There are great deals on RVs this time of year

Since most people are thinking vacation and travel during the summer months, those tend to be the busier times in the RV industry. This “busy season” slows down during the month of September. This means October and November tend to be great times to score a good deal on an RV.

You can take advantage of this time of year by purchasing now to get a deal that might not be available once more people get interested in buying once summer starts to roll around again. And, there are plenty of places for you to enjoy RVing throughout the entire year. Why miss out on RVing opportunities by waiting until next spring or summer to get started?

2. No tourists

Once people realized the pandemic was not going to move along quickly, they started turning to RVs. RV camps had to improvise and change their restrictions but there were still many people looking for places to stay since other travel/vacation options were limited.

However, fall brought the start of school which means more people are staying home than they were over the summer. Schools in some locations are back in-person meaning those families have less options to get out and travel right now. With reduced crowds, this is a great time to get out and explore the Central Coast. While there are plenty of places outside where you can easily social distance anyway, the lower crowds of fall make it even easier to keep your distancing while still getting to get out and about.

3. Warm, but not hot weather

The hot weather of summer has faded away. But the Central Coast has beautiful, comfortable weather to enjoy throughout the fall. With temperatures typically in the low 70s throughout the day, you can still soak in the sun. And, the cooler temperatures at night provide some great sleeping weather and a chance to sit around the campfire together (always check restrictions first) or snuggle up in the RV.

October and early November are also a great time to get out before the chance of rainy season starts to pickup in late November and December.

4. With kids school and your job remote, your RV can be your mobile command center

There’s no reason to sit at home if you’re still working remotely and your kids are doing NTI (non-traditional education) such as virtual school. You can take your “office” and “classroom” on the road. Then, you can head out for exploring and sightseeing once the schoolwork and work day is finished.

2020 has definitely been a non-traditional kind of year so why not take advantage of the situation? You can stay on top of work and school from any place you’re able to access the internet. This includes most RV resorts and campgrounds.
