California’s Central Coast is full of fun stuff to do this summer outside of the regular activities that make the area such a popular vacation destination. 1. California Mid-State Fair

The 2022 California Mid-State Fair is taking place starting today through the end of the month, and you don’t want to miss out!

It’s taking place at the Paso Robles Event Center and there is a long list of attractions and events to keep you busy including things like:

2. Monterey Car Week 2022

Classic cars will take over the streets in Monterey County for Monterey Car Week 2022 from August 12 – 21, 2022. The week is jam-packed full of events including things like races, auctions, car shows, arts and lectures. Then, the week wraps up with Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The event has been taking place for over 70 years and is viewed as the world’s premier celebration of the automobile. In addition, to enjoying classic cars, the event is also famous for revealing new concepts and debuting new cars.

3. Annual Wings Over Camarillo Air Show

The 41st Annual Wings Over Camarillo Air Show is happening August 20-21, 2022. This is a family-friendly event that draws in tens of thousands for the weekend event. In addition, they are bringing pack the Classic/Exotic Car and Motorcycle Show. Over the weekend, you’ll be able to see restored vehicles, hot rods, movie cars, and exotic supercars. Of course, there will be multiple air shows throughout the weekend. You can also take an airplane or helicopter ride. If you couldn’t get enough of Top Gun: Maverick, you’re going to want to put this event on your calendar.

4. Carmel Bach Festival

If you are a musician at heart, you don’t want to miss the Carmel Bach Festival taking place from July 14 – 30, 2022. This is the 85th celebration of the event which pays tribute to J.S. Bach and other artists such as Mozart, Handel, Brahms, and more. There are over 40 events that take place in Carmel and the surrounding areas including Pebble Beach and Monterey. Some of the venues include:

  • Sunset Center Theater
  • Carmel Presbyterian Church
  • All Saints’ Episcopal Church
  • Carmel Mission Basilica
  • San Carlos Cathedral

5. Gilroy Rodeo

The Gilroy Rodeo is happening August 12 – 14, 2022, which makes it the perfect activity to pair with Monterey Car Week so you can enjoy two Central Coast Events in the same weekend.

The Gilroy Rodeo originally began back in 1930 and ran for 26 years before stopping. The even started back up in 2018 by bringing old rodeo into the modern south bay culture with the motto “where the past meets the present.” You can watch all the popular rodeo events including things like:

  • A cowboy dance with live music
  • Dancing lessons
  • Bull riding
  • Mutton Busting
