There are two types of people that love RVs. Those that like to travel and those that love camping. An RV offers great options for people within these categories, which is just about everyone. But, you can do both of these activities without an RV, so how do you know when it’s time to make the jump into the world of being an RV owner? Here are 7 signs to let you know it’s your time:
1. You love traveling but miss the comforts of home
Staying in a hotel can be fun. Someone else makes your bed and cleans your towels, and there can be great amenities available. But, for some, life in a hotel can get old fast. You have limited options, it doesn’t feel “homey”, and eating out actually loses it’s appeal after awhile. If you love seeing new places but are tired of jumping from hotel to hotel, it’s time to buy an RV. Your RV will allow you to travel around the country and take in all the sights while bringing along the comforts that you want. You don’t have to pack and unpack and live out of a suitcase, and you can cook your own meals.
2. You’re starting to feel “too old” for tent camping
It happens to the best of us – you love camping, but sleeping on the ground and setting up a tent and campsite is starting to wear on you. When you can’t enjoy the next day because you are sore and tired from sleeping on a sleeping bag, or air mattress (let’s face it they aren’t much better!) in your tent. Or, you love the experience of camping, but the thought of all the work involved makes you decide to stay home, it’s time to buy an RV.
Your new RV can give you the comfort you are looking for. You can enjoy a comfortable bed at night, a nice place to sit and eat your meals, and a kitchen that lets you make breakfast without having to “get the fire going again”.
3. You like road trips
If you enjoy going on road trips than an RV is right up your alley. Taking road trips is a great way to see all that the country has to offer, and camp sites are a lot more affordable than hotels night after night. But, once you take a lot of these trips you realize that it can take quite awhile to setup and tear down a campsite. You are wasting precious hours of your travel time on prep and tear down instead of enjoying yourself. Becoming an RV owner and you can reduce the amount of time it takes to setup and tear down at every stop you make.
4. You don’t want the weather to impact your ability to camp
Have you ever tent camped when it snowed or stormed? It’s not fun. You only need to be shivering through one night of sleep with the snow falling on the other side of your thin tent “wall” to realize that an RV is a great idea. If you want to camp all year long, in any destination you want to visit, consider an RV. They allow you to enjoy traveling while offering you extra protection from the elements. You can have heat or air, and actual walls around you in the rain.
5. Bathroom
It’s only one word, but it’s an important one to many people. Are you tired of using campsite bathrooms? Are you tired of having to walk half a mile in the middle of the night to go to the restroom? What about wearing shower shoes because you can’t stand the thought of your feet touching the ground as you get clean? If you have used one bathroom or shower at a campground you know what we are talking about. Your RV will offer you the comfort of your own bathroom. A clean restroom and a clean shower – what more could you want? And, some RVs will offer you more than one bathroom!
6. Your family is growing
Are you expecting a child? Have you tried to sleep on the ground when you are in your third trimester of pregnancy? Not fun. Babies add a new challenge when it comes to camping. It’s possible to tent camp when you are pregnant, or with an infant, but it’s not always ideal. When you are in a tent you don’t have much room and you can’t control what is happening outside of your tent. With a little one, you become much more aware of the temperature, the noise, and all the other factors that come along with camping.
Children also come with a lot of gear. There is the highchair, crib, changing tables and so much more. They are some great options for baby camping equipment, but it’s impossible to deny that an RV makes the whole trip easier.
7. You like more luxury than “camping” offers
Not everyone enjoys “roughing it” while they are camping; which is why “glamping” is now a thing. Some people enjoy backpacking through the woods and setting up their tent whenever they are ready to stop. Some people like indoor plumbing, water, and a bed to sleep on. If you are part of the latter it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy camping. But, it might mean it’s time to consider buying an RV.
