Whether you have a new or used RV California provides you days full of things to see and do. When you plan your trip along the Central Coast of California make sure you check out these 5 must-see spots.

1. Historic Cayucos Pier

This pier is over 900 feet long and over 100 years old. The original pier was built in 1872 thanks to the attention the town was getting on the coast. While the original pier was only 380 feet, several years later it was extended to 982 feet. The original was rebuilt and reopened in 2015 after concerns about the safety of the structure. However, it is back to providing visitors with a place to fish, stroll, and watch surfers, dolphins, and seals. The area is also known as a popular surfing location and the entire town is full of surf shops with some of the best craftsmanship.

2. Estero Bluffs State Park

If you are looking for stunning views of the Pacific Ocean then you want to head to Estero Bluffs State Park. The entire park is ust over 350 acres. While at the park you can hike, boat, fish, and windsurf. The area’s purpose though is to help protect the local wildlife and wetlands. You can experience everything from grasslands to coastal salt marshes. There is even a beach located at Villa Creek. While at the park look for the sea otters within the kelp forest.

3. Historic Cass House

If you enjoy historic architecture the Cass House needs to be on your must see list on the central coast. Captain Cass moved from England to California in 1849. His two-story house was elegant and beautifully decorated. Many items were imported from England. Today you can dine at The Grill at the Cass House. The menu is based around seasonal and local ingredients and sure to impress. You can enjoy the food and scenery as you dine in the garden.

4. Historic Oceano Train Depot

There is fun for the whole family at the Oceano Train Depot. It was built in the early 1900’s and was it was the source that brought in people, supplies, and mail. This building was the most important in the town and because of that generation after generation has continued to preserve the building in order for future visitors to be able to enjoy. As you step through the doors you step back in time. You can hear stories of working on the railroad from railroad bluffs and see rooms filled with artifacts. You can check out historic post office boxes, coffee grinders, and other items from the past.

5. Wineries

This might seem like it is cheating a bit to include all wineries in one, but there are so many amazing wineries to choose from on the central coast. We highly advise that you check out at least one of them. The rolling hills create for picturesque settings and the coastal air from the Pacific Ocean lends nicely to the vineyards.

The area is known for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. And, the warmer areas in the mountains are perfect for Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Whichever area you are visiting there is sure to be a winery close by. Choose an afternoon to spend wine tasting and walking through the scenic vineyards.

The Central Coast of California has something to offer for everyone. Do you enjoy being on the water surfing or fishing? Or, do you prefer sitting back and watching the wildlife or hiking through trails? Or, maybe you like to venture back in time and look at historic buildings and dream of years long past. If you identify with any of these you will love the central coast. If you aren’t sure which direction to go in, then explore a little bit of everything.
